Millwall host promotion hopefuls West Bromwich Albion in the Sky Bet Championship on Friday afternoon.

West Brom enter the game on the back of a 2-0 victory against Bristol City at The Hawthorns, while Millwall head into the game having lost 2-0 away at Leeds.

Recent Form

Millwall

Millwall currently sit in 16th on 43 points and are only four points above the Championship relegation zone after 38 games. Despite the loss at league leaders Leeds last time out, the Lions have been in good form overall in recent weeks, winning three out of their last five matches since club legend Neil Harris returned as manager in February.

Millwall have also kept consecutive clean sheets in their last two home matches for the first time since December last year. Centre-back Japhet Tanganga, who joined Millwall on loan in January, has played a key role in improving the side defensively while also scoring two goals.

Their overall home form has been a concern though, with 47% of their matches on home soil ending in defeat so far. Millwall have conceded an average of 1.42 goals per game at the Den, whilst scoring just 0.84. They've also failed to score in 37% of matches at home so far.

Matches at the Den have averaged a total of 2.26 goals this campaign.

West Brom

Carlos Corberan's side remain hopeful of a Premier League return next season and are unbeaten in their last six, with four of those matches ending in victory. They currently sit fifth after 38 games with 66 points, five above Norwich in sixth and seven behind Southampton in fourth.

An impeccable home record compares with a mediocre record on the road; seven of West Brom's ten league losses have been on their travels this season. They've scored an average of 1.47 goals away from home whilst conceding 1.16.

West Brom have however found the net in 79% of away matches, and have scored at least two goals in 42% as they prepare to face a Millwall side who have already shipped 27 goals in 19 home games this term.

Prediction

Despite Millwall's recent improvements, West Brom remain the sensible pick as they continue to push for a return to English football's top-flight.
