In-form Norwich City are looking to continue their push for the Sky Bet Championship play-offs as they make the long trip to Teesside on Wednesday night to take on Middlesbrough.

How to Watch Middlesbrough vs Norwich City in the UK:

Viewers in the UK can watch the game via the Sky Sports Red Button at 19:45 on Wednesday 6th March.

Recent Form:

Since the start of 2024, Middlesbrough’s form has fallen off a cliff, which has seen Carrick’s side fall from play-off chasers to an unexpected relegation battle.

The Teesiders have lost seven of their 12 fixtures in all competitions in 2024, a run which includes just three wins. Two of those wins came against league leaders Leicester City and Premier League giants Chelsea.

Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Stoke City made it just one win in seven league games for Boro, ramping up the pressure on manager Carrick, with his side sitting in 14th and only six points above the relegation zone with 12 games to play.

Norwich, meanwhile, have hit top form since the turn of the year to bring themselves into play-off contention. David Wagner’s side made it six wins in their last nine league games with their 1-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday, moving them to within a point off Hull City in sixth.

The return of striker Josh Sargent, in particular, has lifted Norwich’s fortunes significantly, with the USA forward bagging six goals in Norwich’s last six games, leading to the Canaries being unbeaten since their 5-2 hammering at Liverpool in the FA Cup in January.

Team News:

As has been the case for much of the season, Middlesbrough come into this clash with a mounting injury list, with Jonny Howson (knee), Hayden Hackney (knee), Joshua Coburn (groin), Isaiah Jones (hamstring), Alex Bangura (hamstring), Darragh Lenihan (Achilles) and Thomas Smith (Achilles) all set to miss the game though injury.

Dael Fry is also a doubt for Boro, having missed the last four games with a groin injury.

Norwich City, meanwhile, have a much healthier injury list in comparison to their hosts. Wagner will remain without star man for the season Jonathan Rowe, who’s out until April with a hamstring injury.

The Canaries’ game on Teesside comes too soon for Shane Duffy, who has missed the last five games through Injury, while Onel Hernandez is set to miss most of the rest of the season with a broken foot.

Betting Odds:

Middlesbrough head into this clash as favourites, with UniBET offering 5/4 odds on a morale boosting win for Carrick’s men, with an implied probability of 44.4%.

888Sport are offering a seventh win in 10 league games for Norwich at 11/5, carrying an implied probability of 31.3%. A draw can best be found at 47/18 on vBet, which carries an implied probability of 27.7%.

Predictions:

Despite being at home and classed as favourites by the bookmakers, the pressure is beginning to build on Carrick as Boro’s poor form doesn’t show any signs of stopping, and OddsNow backs Norwich to continue their recent upturn in form with another victory here.
