Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham Hotspur host an equally unconvincing Manchester United side in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Thursday.

The hosts come into the game having roared in a 5-0 victory away at Southampton on Sunday, in a match which would cost opposition manager Russell Martin his job. 

Tottenham's performance at St Mary's Stadium taught us nothing knew about Ange Postecoglou's side. 

Going forward, they are one of the most exhilerating in the league, but remain susceptible at the back against teams of higher quality. 

Nevertheless, their thirst for a long-awaited trophy seems to have placed greater emphasis on this fixture and they face a Manchester United side who also remain under question. 

To say their 2-1 victory over rivals Manchester City was flattering would be a stretch too far but United's two late goals certainly papered over the cracks of another mediocre performance.

And while I expect the visitors to pose a sterner test than they did in a 3-0 loss to Spurs at Old Trafford back in September, I'm still going to back the home side to proceed to the semi-finals with a winning performance in North London.

Over 2.5+ goals scored

Spurs are the more potent attacking outfit of the two but their dubious defensive record is hard to ignore. 

Ange Postecoglou's side have kept just one clean sheet in eight home matches in the Premier League so far, and their win at Southampton was the first time they've kept out an opponent in five.

United have also struggled at the back and haven't kept a clean sheet since a 4-0 hammering of Everton at the start of the month.

Add the 3.88 goals averaged at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into the mix, and it's fair to say more goal-scoring action lies ahead in this one.
