AC Milan host Empoli on Sunday afternoon as they continue to search a top-two finish in Serie A.
Kick-off is set for 2pm UK time at the San Siro.
Whilst the league title might be out of reach this season, Milan will still harbour ambitions of finishing second behind arch rivals Inter. The home side currently sit in third, one point behind second-placed Juventus after 27 matches.
Milan's last outing saw them record a 4-2 home win over Slavia Prague in the Europa League. The result was their second consecutive victory following a 1-0 away win at Lazio last Friday.
Their home record makes for positive reading. Milan have won nine and drawn two of their 13 matches on home soil so far, averaging a healthy 2.23 points per game. Their only home losses came against Juventus and Udinese at the back end of last year.
Milan have also scored 22 goals at the San Siro whilst conceding just eight. Empoli meanwhile have averaged just 1.15 points per game on the road so far (W4, D3, L6) and have shipped 22 in the process. The away side have also only scored 13 goals so far on their travels.
Milan have also failed to score in just 15% of home matches, while Empoli have only managed clean sheets in 23% of their away games so far. All evidence points to a comfortable home victory this weekend.
Both Alessandro Florenzi and Rafael Leão are suspended for the home side for receiving the maximum number of yellow cards. Tommaso Pobega also remains out with a hamstring injury. He is expected to return in April.
Empoli’s veteran striker Franceso Caputo remains on the sidelines with the ankle injury that has kept him out since January. Alberto Grassi is also out, with a return date unknown.
Milan predictably enter strong favourites, coming in at 4/9 with Coral on the moneyline. Empoli meanwhile sit at 15/2 with BetVictor to land an upset. The draw comes in at 4/1 with bet365.
Anything but a Milan victory is difficult to see heading into the fixture. Milan's home games have also averaged 2.31 goals in total this term, making another high-scoring fixture likely.
