West Ham United face relegation-threatened Burnley at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon in search of a third straight league win.

The visitors head to the capital seeking their first win of 2024, aiming to stave off what currently seems an inevitable relegation back to the Championship.

Recent Form

West Ham appear to have turned a corner recently after a six game winless run which included heavy defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal. Manager David Moyes found himself under pressure but a 4-2 home win over Brentford followed by a 3-1 away success at Everton has reignited the quest to finish in a European place.

West Ham currently occupy 7th place, a position which would give them entry to at least the Europa Conference League, a competition they won in 2023. Attention may have only just turned to the weekend's match, after focus was on Thursday night's Europa League last 16 tie against German club Freiburg, who defeated the Hammers 1-0 in the first leg.

Talisman Jarrod Bowen scored a hat-trick in West Ham’s last appearance at the London Stadium and will fancy his chances of adding to his season total of 14 against Burnley.

The away side sit in 19th place in the Premier League table, level on points with bottom side Sheffield United. The Clarets last win was all the way back in December at Fulham and they've failed to record a win in the subsequent nine matches, leaving them eleven points adrift of safety.

Their latest defeat, last week's 2-0 home loss to Bournemouth was an all too familiar story for Burnley, unable to add to their paltry goal tally of 25 for the season, whilst being picked off all too easily defensively. Only Sheffield United have a worse defensive record this season than Burnley, with Kompany’s men having already conceded 60.

Team News

West Ham winger Maxwell Cornet has a hamstring injury and is expected to be out until the end of March. Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd is being assessed ahead of the weekend’s match. Left-back Emerson was replaced just after half-time midweek and could also miss out.

Luca Koleosho and Lyle Foster are both long term absentees for Burnley. Aaron Ramsey and Nathan Redmond are both out for the season. Jordan Beyer is nursing a knock and is unlikely to feature, but Josh Brownhill is available again after suspension following his red card against Crystal Palace in February.

Betting Odds

In-form West Ham head into the match as comfortable favourites. PaddyPower provides odds of 8/13 for a West Ham win, an implied probability of 62%. Coral offers 21/5 for a Burnley win, carrying an implied probability of 19%.

The draw for this fixture comes in at 16/5 with UniBet, an implied probability of 24%.

Prediction

Burnley have been a poor watch all season and OddsNow don't expect that to change this weekend. 60 goals conceded in the league should be music to the ears of the West Ham frontline consisting of Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus. Anything but a home win would be a risky bet. Matches at the London Stadium have averaged 3.15 goals so far in the Premier League, with another high-scoring game predicted this weekend for the home side.

OddsNow's Pick: West Ham to win with 3.5+ goals scored (3.68/1 @ Betfair)
