Fourth-placed Aston Villa host fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park on Sunday as the race for Champions League football intensifies. Tottenham are currently five points behind Villa with a game in hand.

Kick-off is set for 1pm local time at Villa Park.

Recent Form

Villa have pulled through a challenging week. An 89th minute winner at Kenilworth Road saw them bag all three points against Luton last weekend before a 0-0 draw with Ajax sees them maintain healthy prospects of progressing in the Europa Conference League.

Unai Emery's side have won four of their last five matches whilst scoring 15 goals. Only Arsenal have scored more within that same time period. The Villains also boast an impressive home record, with Villa losing just two of their league games on home soil so far this season. Star striker Ollie Watkins has bagged six goals and two assists in his last five league outings. Watkins also has more goal contributions (26) than any other player in the Premier League in 2023/24.

The away side meanwhile have lost one of their last five in the league - a 2-1 home loss against Wolves in February. Ange Postecoglou's side have showed resilience and have been required to come from behind to secure their last three victories. Tottenham have secured 19 points from losing positions so far this campaign - with only title-chasers Manchester City and Liverpool boasting a better record.

Tottenham centre-backs Cristian Romero and Mick van de Ven, both of whom are likely to start this weekend, have only lost two of the last 17 games they've started together.

Team News

Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey and forward Jhon Duran are heavy doubts to be included in the squad. Emiliano Buendia, Tyrone Mings, and Boubacar Kamara are out for the season.

Tottenham are without full-back Ryan Sessegnon, winger Manor Solomon, and back-up keeper Fraser Forster for the trip to Villa Park. Full-back Pedro Porro has a 50% chance of being involved in the squad, while forward Richarlison, who has ten league goals this season, is doubtful.

Betting Odds

Villa’s excellent home form has made them the slight favourite on the moneyline heading into Sunday’s clash. 10Bet are offering the hosts at 29/20 (an implied probability of 40.8%).

The best price for an underdog Spurs victory is 33/20, offered by UniBET, BetMGM, and BetUK (an implied probability of 37.7%). William Hill are offering the best odds for a draw at 16/5 (an implied probability of 23.8%).

Prediction

Both sides are known to play an extremely high line and are amongst the top scorers in the league; therefore, it seems likely that both teams will score at some point throughout the match. The reverse fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium also saw 33 shots combined between the two sides.

Villa's superb form at home makes it difficult to look past them on the moneyline. Spurs have no doubt exceeded expectations so far this season, but have already proven themselves prone to the occasional wobble, as evidenced by the recent loss at home to Wolves. Villa have already beaten both Arsenal and Manchester City at home this season, and OddsNow expect them to do the same to Tottenham this weekend.

OddsNow's Pick: Villa to win outright (29/20 @ 10Bet)
