Luton Town host Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon as the home side look for three must-needed points to boost their survival hopes.
The hosts come into the game following a 2-0 defeat at Arsenal in midweek, while Bournemouth earned a 1-0 home victory over Crystal Palace. Kick-off is set for 3pm at Kenilworth Road.
The Arsenal loss was Luton's third in four matches, with Rob Edwards' side now winless in their last eleven matches in all competitions. The Hatters have also only picked up one point at home since the end of January.
Luton have only picked up twelve total points in home games this season, at an average of 0.26 points per match. They've also conceded two or more goals in 53% of those games, leaving them with the 18th-worst home record in the division.
Goalscoring hasn't been a problem for the hosts, who have averaged 1.47 goals per home match so far. Strikers Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo have bagged 17 goals between them, and Luton have failed to score in just 7% of their home games in the league.
Their defensive record makes for harder reading though, with an alarming 1.73 goals shipped per home game so far. Only 13% of these fixtures have ended in a Luton clean sheet, with Edwards' men shipping two or more goals in 53% of home matches so far.
As if their current run of form hasn't been troubling enough, Luton surrendered a 3-0 lead away at Bournemouth to eventually lose 4-3 last month.
Bournemouth meanwhile have enjoyed their season so far, picking up 41 points in 30 games which leaves them eleventh and just one point away from the top half.
The Cherries’ away form has been promising this season, picking up 18 points on the road and scoring 23 goals in the process. They beat a struggling Burnley 2-0 in their most recent away outing, though this was their first league win on the road in 2024.
They've scored an impressive average of 1.64 goals per away fixture, and have found the net in 79% of these matches. Bournemouth have tended to ship more goals on the road, conceding 2.07 in away fixtures compared to only 1.5 at home. They've also managed clean sheets in just 21% of games on their travels.
There are high stakes in this game for Luton who need to seriously start picking up points at home if they have any chance at survival. However, Bournemouth excelled in away fixtures during the first half of the season and, despite recent struggles, they got back to winning ways at Burnley in their most recent away outing.
Luton have fared well in home matches against sides further up the table but have struggled against those in the bottom half. We expect this to continue on Saturday, with the away side bagging another three points.
