Spain vs Germany Team News

Neither side has any injury concerns ahead of the match.

Germany centre-back Jonathan Tah will likely return to the lineup after serving a one-match suspension against Denmark last time out. Attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz may also start after coming off the bench against the Danish.

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente will surely name the same front three which started in the 4-1 win versus Georgia.

Spain vs Germany Analysis and Predictions

The two sides have arguably been the most impressive teams at the tournament so far. While fellow big-hitters France, England and Portugal have flattered to deceive, both Spain and Germany shone during the group stage to secure progression after two matches.

Spain were the only side to win all three matches during the group and continued their momentum with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Georgia last time out. Kvicha Kvaratskhelia's goal was the first de la Fuente's men have conceded at the tournament so far, though a match with competition hosts Germany will be by far their sternest test yet.

Julian Nagelsmann's side also won their opening two matches and salvaged a point with a late equaliser in the third, before ousting Denmark 2-0 in the last 16. The Germans may have benefitted from some questionable officiating, namely the decision to award a penalty after Joachim Andersen's 'handball', but have still displayed a ruthless cutting edge in front of goal. Their 2.66 xG was comfortably the highest they'd managed at the tournament so far.

The Spanish have been equally as dominant on the front foot. Their average 2.26xG across their four matches has led to their place as second favourites to win the entire tournament, only behind England who are on the so-called 'easier' side of the draw.

Though knockout games are predictably tight, cagey affairs, both of these teams have impressed in front of goal due to the dearth of attacking talent in their ranks. Germany have shown hints of defensive frailties, though, and so we will be backing Spain on the over/under goals scored market.
