Centre-forward Kai Havertz has started his country's last four matches, scoring twice in the process, and looks set to lead the line for Germany once again on Friday.
Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz both flanked Ilkay Gundogan in attacking roles against Ukraine and Greece, while Leroy Sane started the latter contest on the bench after missing his nation's three previous matches through suspension.
Scotland striker Lawrence Shankland is set to make his first appearance at a major tournament, having started three of his country's last four outings.
His fellow forward Lyndon Dykes has travelled with the squad despite being ruled out of this summer's finals with an ankle problem. Meanwhile, leading stars Andy Robertson and Scott McTominay are both expected to shake off knocks to feature in the opener.
There was a sense of dread over the German national team prior to March's international break, but impressive wins over France and the Netherlands have increased optimism ahead of their first home tournament since 2006.
Julian Nagelsmann's side are now unbeaten in their last four, courtesy of a solid but uninspiring 0-0 draw with Ukraine and a 2-1 comeback win over Greece in friendlies last week.
Scotland, meanwhile, secured comfortable passage to a second consecutive European Championships. However, recent results have brought them back down to earth somewhat.
A 2-0 victory over Gibraltar last week is their only win in their last nine outings, while Steve Clarke will have been disappointed to see his side surrender a two-goal lead to eventually 2-2 draw with Finland on Friday.
They will need to improve markedly if they hope to get anything from Friday's match.
Germany rightly come in as firm favourites given their recent form and status as hosts but Nagelsmann's men have been far from water-tight at the back. The home side have managed just two clean sheets in their last 14 matches, though both of these did come on home soil.
Nevertheless, it remains difficult to predict how exactly they will fare this summer, given positive results against France and the Dutch back in March currently look more like outliers than a clear sign of improvement.
While we don't expect Scotland to get a result in Munich, the Tartan Army have at least been in rich scoring form as of late — despite experiencing their own troubles at the back.
Averaging 2.13 goals scored per game in a competitive qualifying group, Scotland failed to score just once en route to securing their place in Germany. Their lack of clean sheets will be a concern, though. They've managed only one in their last nine.
Given the hosts' own defensive troubles, this contest looks like a prime opportunity for the underdogs to get themselves on the scoresheet in memorable fashion before ultimately falling short in terms of a final result.
