Chelsea collide with Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Monday as both sides look to secure a place in Europe next season.

Kick-off is set for 8pm local time in West London.

Recent Form

Chelsea enter the match on the back of a 2-2 away draw with Brentford last weekend. The Blues dominated the opening 45 minutes but were unable to put the game to bed with striker Nicholas Jackson missing a glaring chance. Despite leading 1-0 at half-time, the away side could only manage a point in the end following a Brentford revival in the second stanza.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have one win to their name in their last four matches. Chelsea haven't won at home in the league since 13th January (1-0 vs Fulham).

Newcastle meanwhile impressively dispatched of Wolves with a 3-0 home victory last time out. The match was their first victory in the league since February 10th where they overcame Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea sit in eleventh, four points away from eighth-placed Newcastle heading into the match.

Team News

Chelsea's entire season has been plagued with injuries, and that is no different heading into this game as there are a few new players on the injury report. Ben Chilwell and Levi Colwill are both ruled out, with no return date set for either of them. Conor Gallagher and youngster Carney Chukwuemeka both face late fitness tests ahead of Monday’s match.

Newcastle right-back Kieran Trippier misses out with a calf injury. Matt Targett is also being assessed as he manages a thigh/hamstring injury. Newcastle loanee Lewis Hall will be ineligible to play against Chelsea as they are his parent club.

Betting Odds

Chelsea are favourites with odds set at 20/21 outright with Coral. Newcastle are placed as underdogs at 27/10 on the moneyline, while the draw comes in at 16/5 with William Hill

Prediction

Both sides have been difficult to predict all season. Chelsea have no doubt shown promise in recent months but continue to hit a bump just as they look to be gaining momentum. Their most promising performances recently have also been on the road with an impressive 3-1 victory over Aston Villa followed by a 1-1 draw with champions Manchester City.

Newcastle have found it difficult to cope with the extra games which come with European qualification and, that coupled with a wealth of injuries to his squad, have made for a disappointing campaign for Eddie Howe's side. For a team that are expected to concede as many as they score, it's hard to back the away victory here.

A Chelsea victory on the moneyline is the most sensible pick, but do so with caution.
