Bayer Leverkusen hope to maintain their lead at the top of the Bundesliga as they take on Wolfsburg at the Bay Arena on Sunday. Kick-off is set for 6:30pm UK time.
The home side will await the result of second-placed Bayern Munich's match with Mainz which takes place the day before.
Leverkusen had to salvage a 2-2 draw away at Qarabag in Azerbaijan on Thursday. The German side initially trailled 2-0 but second half goals from Florian Wirtz and Patrick Schick leaves Leverkusen in a strong position to progress to the Europa League quarter-finals.
The match brought an end to a six-match winning streak for Xabi Alonso's side, who sit ten points clear of Bayern after 24 matches at the top of the Bundesliga. Their most recent league outing saw them secure a 2-0 away victory at Koln.
Leverkusen have maintained 1.98 xG overall this season, with a 2.21 xG while playing at home. Of their 12 league matches at home, they've won ten and drawn two (averaging 2.67 points per game). Leverkusen have also scored 34 goals in those 12 games, conceding just seven in the process.
Wolfsburg meanwhile sit in 13th place, a point off Monchengladbach in 12th. They have lost seven of their 12 away matches this campaign, averaging just 0.75 points per game. Those 12 games have seen them concede 23 goals on the road while scoring only 12.
Niko Kovac's side haven't won in eight Bundesliga matches, drawing six and losing two. Their most recent outing saw them suffer a 3-2 home defeat to Champions League-chasing Stuttgart.
Leverkusen will be without their top-scorer in forward Victor Boniface, who is expected to be out until early April with a groin injury. Brazilian right-back Arthur is also out until the end of the month with an injury to his tendon. Right-back Jeremie Frimpong is suspended after receiving ten yellow cards in the league this season.
Wolfsburg midfielder Jakub Kaminski's involvement is questionable after the Poland international's suffering with illness. Full-back Joakim Maehle is ruled out through suspension.
Leverkusen understandably enter as favourites with an 83.3% winning record at home in the Bundesliga. Bet365 have the home side at 1/3 to win outright, while Wolfsburg come in at 9/1 underdogs with Midnite. The draw stands at 5/1 with vBet.
Noting Leverkusen's impressive output at the Bay Arena, the home side come in at 6/5 to score over 2.5 goals with bet365.
It's impossible to foresee anything other than another Leverkusen victory despite their 'slip' in Europe on Thursday. Their positive goalscoring record at home is also difficult to ignore, with OddsNow backing the home win outright. Over 2.5 home goals is also a feasible bet, especially considering Wolfsburg's habit of shipping goals on the road this year.
