A three-match winning streak looked to have regained momentum for Unai Emery's side, only for losses to Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United to continue to shrowd their fortunes in uncertainty. 

The Midlanders will be incredibly grateful to return to their own patch for this one, though. 

Villa are unbeaten in eight Premier League home matches, with the latest seeing them run out 2-1 victors over a struggling Manchester City.

Avoiding defeat against Brighton will mean Villa have not last at home in the league since a 2-0 loss to Arsenal in August and the hosts will be buoyed by their positive record against the Seagulls heading into Monday evening. 

Brighton have picked up just one win in their last 14 away matches against Villa and were handed a 6-1 loss at this venue last season. 

Their recent form will hardly encourage their travelling support, too. 

Fabian Hurzeler's men travel to the West Midlands having failed to record a victory in their last six league outings and are also winless in their last three away games.

For all of Villa's success on their own patch, clean sheets haven't been easy to come by for Emery's crop.

Villa have just two to their name home and away so far in the league and 67% of their home outings have seen both teams find the back of the net. 

Brighton have also seen their fair share of goalscoring action at both ends on the road, with 78% of their away outings also seeing both teams score.

Villa may not have lost in front of their own fans in recent weeks, but six of their last eight home outings have again seen both sides score at least once.

Ultimately, it's hard to back a Brighton side who are looking to regain their footing amidst a difficult period, but expect the visitors to at least land a glove on Villa while ultimately coming up short.
