Atalanta welcome Sporting Lisbon to the Gewiss Stadium for their Europa League round-of-sixteen second leg on Thursday.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in Lisbon during last week's first leg. Kick-off is set for 8pm UK time in Italy.

Recent Form

Atalanta

Atalanta’s recent form hasn’t been great after they've failed to record a win in their last five outings in all competitions. Their last victory came with a 3-0 ousting of Sassuolo in February.

Gian Piero Gasperini's side do boast an impressive home record however, with only three teams recording better form on home soil in Serie A this season. They have lost just one game in their last ten at the Gewiss Stadium. The bulk of their success this season has been at home where they boast a 73% win ratio, compared to a measly 38% record on the road.

Atalanta are also unbeaten in the Europa League so far after having topped Group D ahead of opponents Sporting Lisbon, who they picked up four out of a possible six points against in the group stage.

The home side have also averaged 1.82 goals per match which increases to an average of 2.21 at home. They have also conceded just ten at home in the league, equating to an average of 0.71 per game.

Atalanta have found the net in 92% of their home games in Serie A and have scored in every game they've played in the Europa League so far this campaign.

Sporting Lisbon

Sporting Lisbon come into this game top of Liga Portugal and in extremely impressive form having only lost one game in their last 20 in all competitions. They've only lost twice on the road so far this season and are unbeaten on their travels in European competition. Sporting have also scored in all but one of their matches in all competitions.

Ruben Amorin’s side are in impressive goal-scoring form, averaging 2.42 goals per match away from home so far. With an average of 1.25 goals conceded per match, only Porto and Benfica boast a better defensive record on away soil in the Portuguese top-flight.

They have however failed to record a win against an Italian side in their last 17 matches, 12 of which have ended in defeat.

Prediction

Despite Sporting's impressive form on the road, the home record of Atalanta coupled with the results from the group stage make a home victory the sensible pick ahead of the second leg. OddsNow also expect a high-scoring encounter as both sides look to land a place in the quarter-finals.

OddsNow's Pick: Atalanta to win on the night (evens @ Midnite); Over 3+ goals to be scored (7/6 @ vBet)
