A world title shot beckons for the winner of Jack Catterall vs Regis Prograis on Saturday, but who will come out on top at Manchester's Co-Op Arena?

Odds Now's resident boxing expert Brad Walker runs you through a spicy 5/1 bet-builder ahead of the opening bell.

Brad Walker's Jack Catterall vs Regis Prograis bet-builder selections

Selection #1 - Jack Catterall to beat Regis Prograis (1/5)

Chorley super-lightweight Jack Catterall (29-1, 13KOs) announced himself on the world stage in a controversial split-decision defeat to Josh Taylor in February 2022 - a fight many felt he deserved to get his hand raised in.

A promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing has followed and allowed the 31-year-old to finally enjoy the perks of regular fights after being previously blighted by inactivity.

Dominant showings against Darragh Foley and Jorge Linares saw Catterall setup an anticipated rematch with old adversary Taylor and, this time, the Englishman wasn't to be denied after winning routinely on the cards.

He is now targeting a second shot at world honours but must first move past former two-time champion Regis Prograis (29-2, 24KOs) this weekend.

The American has been a mainstay among the top competitors at 140lbs in recent years, but has began to show signs his best days are behind him.

Prograis claimed the WBC super-lightweight crown with an 11th-round stoppage of Jose Zepeda in November 2022 but failed to convince in his first defence - a split-decision victory over the unfancied Danielito Zorilla.

The champion escaped with his world title belt intact - just about - but was dominated by Devin Haney in his next showing.

The latter was awarded all 12 rounds on all three scorecards in a fight which also saw Haney drop Prograis in the third.

He has not fought since but, at the age of 35, Prograis' career looks to be headed in one direction.

Both youth and activity - two vital factors - are with Catterall, who should win a fairly comfortable decision in the first boxing main event at the new arena in Manchester.

Selection #2 - Michael Gomez Jnr to beat Reece Bellotti (13/8)

A run of five defeats in seven fights looked to spell the end for Reece Bellotti (19-5, 14KOs) at the top level, but the 33-year-old has since rebounded with an impressive five-match winning streak.

He also claimed the British and Commonwealth super-featherweight titles in barnstorming contests with Aqib Fiaz and Liam Dillon in the last 12 months, before successfully defending the belts against Levi Giles four months ago.

The Watford man does have a lot of miles on the clock though, and will enter the ring against a younger, bigger Michael Gomez Jnr (21-1, 6KOs) on Saturday.

Gomez will also be buoyed by a strong Manchester crowd and his added size could be a telling factor down the stretch, edging a closely-contested decision in his favour.

Selection #3 - Campbell Hatton to beat James Flint by decision/technical decision (Evens)

Super-lightweight Campbell Hatton (14-1, 5KOs) was forced to swallow the first professional defeat of his career when he first met James Flint (14-2-2, 3KOs) back in March.

The latter was rightly awarded a unanimous decision victory after out-hustling his Manchester counterpart across the 10 rounds, earning him the Central Area title in the process.

Flint has since suffered a split-decision defeat to Kyle Boyd in June though, and could be facing a re-energised Hatton come the opening bell this weekend.

The Mancunian has opted to change trainers, leaving uncle Matthew Hatton for the esteemed Ben Davison down in Essex.

Davison stands as one of the best cornermen in the country and has crucially had seven months to mould and refine the young super-lightweight.

Ultimately, pushed on by a raucous Manchester crowd, I'm going to back Hatton to exact revenge on his Doncaster opponent and return to winning ways in his home city.
