Granada could face relegation to La Liga 2 this weekend should they suffer defeat at the hands of champions Real Madrid on Saturday evening.

The away side captured their 37th La Liga title with a 3-0 home win over Cadiz last weeked. Madrid secured a 2-0 home win in the reverse fixture back in December. Kick-off is set for 5:30pm UK time.

Recent Form

Granada

The hosts look destined for a return to Spain's second division as they languish in 19th place, eleven points adrift of safety with four matches remaining. A 3-0 loss at Sevilla put an end to their three-match unbeaten run, but Granada's last two home outings have ended in victory. Both matches also saw them keep a clean sheet.

Their home record still stands as the third-worst in La Liga, but all four of their wins this season have came at Nuevo Estadio de Los Cármenes. Goals have been much easier to come by on home soil; 23 of their 36 bagged so far have came in home fixtures, and Granada have failed to score in only four home outings so far.

Their main concern has been at the back; while only 26 of their 64 goals conceded have been shipped at home, Granada have still managed just three clean sheets in front of their home fans. Though they've kept consecutive clean sheets in their last two home matches, they prepare to welcome the highest-scoring team in La Liga this weekend.

Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti's side finally captured the La Liga title with a seventh consecutive victory in domestic competition. Madrid have also bagged seven goals in their last three, and only Barcelona have bettered their 31 goals scored on the road so far. Los Blancos are also the highest-scoring team overall this season, with 74 scored so far home and away.

Not only have their last three away outings ended in victory, but Madrid have also kept clean sheets in two of those matches. With just 22 goals conceded overall, and only 13 in away games, it's difficult to see Granada breaking through a rock solid Madrid defence.

Coupled with the home side's attrocious defensive record, the Madrid attacking line will surely fancy their chances of adding to their goal tallies this weekend. Nine of Madrid's away matches have seen them score at least two goals.

Prediction

The visitors predictably enter as firm favourites (6/11) and should be backed to emerge victorious in a high-scoring encounter. Granada's home fixtures have averaged 2.88 goals in total, largely down to their leaky defence, ahead of the visit of a free-scoring Madrid team who could run riot this weekend.
