AC Milan look to secure a second-placed finish when they host relegation-threatened Cagliari on Saturday evening.

The home side are winless in their last six in all competitions, but have already recorded two wins over their opponents this season. Kick-off is set for 7:45pm UK time at the San Siro.

Recent Form

AC Milan

Stefano Pioli's side have endured a difficult time in recent weeks. Four Serie A matches without a win, coupled by their bowing out of the Europa League, has left tension high in Milan. Watching bitter rivals Inter lift their 20th league title has hardly cushioned the blow.

Milan are also winless in their last two home fixtures, including a 2-1 loss to Inter, but Pioli's men still boast the fourth-best home record in the division. With 30 goals scored, only four sides have netted more goals in home fixtures, and Milan have bagged four in their last two at San Siro.

Their main issue has been conceding. With eight shipped in their last three in Serie A, teams have enjoyed a wealth of success against the Italian giants in recent weeks. Even Genoa, who are just the twelfth-highest scorers in Serie A, managed to put three past Milan on Sunday. The emerging trend has been a farcry from their overall form this season, with Milan averaging just 0.76 conceded in front of their home fans so far.

Cagliari

The visitors are also struggling for form, and have failed to record a victory in their last four league matches. Claudio Ranieri's side were within minutes of three points at the weekend before a late Lecce goal meant the hosts could only settle for a point at Estadio Sant'Elia.

Not only are Cagliari winless in their last three outings, only two sides have worse records on the road this season. With a measly 0.47 points averaged in away fixtures, Ranieri's men are the joint-lowest scorers on their travels alongside bottom-placed Salernitana.

Despite averaging 1.44 goals scored in home matches, Cagliari have peculiarly recorded a dismal 0.65 when travelling. They've also failed to score in eight of their 17 matches on the road. Coupled with an abysmal defensive record, where they've shipped 1.82 goals in away games, it's little wonder to see Cagliari in a fight for their life as the season's end draws closer.

Prediction

Milan have hardly convinced in recent weeks but prepare to welcome a Cagliari side who have won just once on the road this term. The away side have also conceded two or more goals in eleven matches on their travels.

OddsNow therefore back the home side to enjoy a wealth of success and return to winning ways at the San Siro on Saturday evening.
