Saturday evening sees the Detroit Redwings host the Florida Panthers.

Recent Form:

Redwings top scorer Dylan Larkin has 26 goals in 54 games, while Florida’s Sam Reinhart, the third highest scorer in the league, has scored 41 in 60 games. Detroit beat Florida 3-2 in an overtime victory last month and this game could prove another intriguing one, as Detroit are currently the fifth highest scoring team in the NHL, averaging 3.58 goals a game; however, Florida have the second best defence, currently holding a 2.24 GAA.

The Redwings suffered a 5-3 home defeat to the New York Islanders on Friday and find themselves fourth in the Atlantic Division. The Panthers currently top the division, and secured a 4-3 home win over the Montreal Canadians last time out.

Team News:

The Redwings only injury is to goalie Ville Husso who sustained a lower body injury against the Edmonton Oiler on 13 February. He has been replaced by Alex Lyon who has featured in every game since.

Panthers left winger Carter Verhaeghe, their second top scorer, sustained a face injury against the Buffalo Sabres on 28 February, but should feature against the Redwings, giving the Panthers a full strength side.

Betting Odds:

Based on current form, Detroit have a good stake in this game, but bookies seem to be behind the Panthers quite convincingly. The division leaders come in at 4/6 favourites with Coral, carrying an implied probability of 60%.

Detroit meanwhile enter at 7/5 with William Hill, carrying an implied probability of 41.67%.

Prediction:

OddsNow expect the Panthers to maintain their lead at the top of the Division with a victory on the road in Detroit.

OddsNow's Pick: Detroit Redwings 2-5 Florida Panthers
