Villarreal host Sevilla in a mid-table clash in La Liga on Saturday afternoon.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. Kick-off is set for 3:15pm UK time at Estadi de la Ceràmica.

Recent Form

Villarreal

A 3-2 loss away to Celta Vigo put an end to a three-match unbeaten streak for Marcelino García Toral's side. After a fifth-placed finish in La Liga last season, Villarreal have endured a disappointing campaign which has left them sitting in ninth with four matches remaining

Only eight sides have worse home records than the Yellow Submarine this term, though only one of their last five on home turf have ended in defeat. Villarreal have also scored five in their last three home matches, keeping two clean sheets in the process.

Toral's men also stand as the fifth-highest scoring side in La Liga with 56 goals. 29 of these have came in home fixtures at an average of 1.71 per game, with Villarreal failing to score in just two of these matches.

Their success going forward has been hampered by their inability to keep the ball out of their own net, however. With 26 goals conceded, they've shipped the same amount of goals at home as relegated Granada, and seven more than 18th-placed Cadiz.

Sevilla

Unbeaten in their last five, Quique Sánchez Flores' side look for a final push towards a top-half finish in the Spanish top-flight. A 3-0 home win over Granada made it six goals in their last three league outings for Sevilla, who have also kept three clean sheets in their last five.

Sevilla are also unbeaten in their last four matches away from home, most recently securing a 1-1 draw at bitter rivals Real Betis at the end of April. Nevertheless, their form on the road has been far from convincing this term. Having averaged just 1.06 points in 17 away outings, Sevilla have secured just four wins on the road all season. Two of these have came in their last four, though.

Only 19 of their goals have came in away fixtures, six of which have seen them fail to find the net entirely. They have fared slightly better in defensive quarters, though, averaging only 1.29 goals conceded in away fixtures compared to 1.41 on home turf.

Prediction

Villarreal have been shaky at home overall this term, but have shown signs of improvements in recent weeks. Though their defensive record has been far from convincing, Sevilla have also been far less potent in away fixtures.

Combined with Villarreal's impressive attacking output, OddsNow make a home win the sensible pick for this one.
