Stuttgart play host to PSG with both sides vying for a spot in the Champions League play-off round on Wednesday.

Brad Walker's Stuttgart vs PSG best bet

Hosts Stuttgart are enjoying another positive season and remain with a shout of qualifying for the next phase of the Champions League providing they avoid defeat here.

Sebastian Hoeness' men currently occupy the final play-off spot heading into matchday eight, two places below opponents PSG.

The French champions find themselves above Stuttgart on goal difference, but the fate of both sides is still yet to be decided ahead of kick-off at the MHP Arena.

A win for either will guarantee their progression, while a draw leaves both dependent on results going their way elsewhere.

Needless to say, avoiding defeat is paramount if either of these two are to realise their ambitions of securing a spot in the next round.

Back the PSG momentum

Stuttgart have endured a mixed bag of results at home in Europe so far, despite being handed fairly favourable fixtures.

Hoeness' side suffered a 2-0 defeat to a solid Atalanta side but disappointed with a 1-1 home draw with Sparta Prague.

Their only win on home turf came with a 5-1 victory over minnows Young Boys.

They face a PSG side who rightly drew plaudits for a 4-2 home win over Manchester City last time out, which significantly boosted their progression prospects.

Luis Enrique's men finished with 2.81 xG to their name in Paris, largely down to their relentless pressing which left City defenders with little room to breathe.

With an average xG tally of 2.09 in this competition so far, PSG will fancy their chances against a leaky Stuttgart defence which has shipped 1.86 goals on average heading into matchday eight.

Coupled with the momentum built up after consecutive victories over Salzburg and City, backing the away win here at a generous 9/5 looks a worthy punt.
