PSG to break Champions League duck

PSG have been the team of this season’s Champions League and I just can’t see past them getting the job done here.

The underdog rarely triumphs in this game. Chelsea’s victory over Manchester City in 2021 is the only “shock” since the Blues overcame Bayern Munich in 2012, with Real Madrid the dominant force in that time.

Inter themselves were beaten by City in 2023 and a similar game could play out here, where they give it a good go but are ultimately beaten by the best team on the continent.

PSG have won nine of their last 11 matches in this competition, with one of those failures a game they dominated against Liverpool and the other a 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa that was good enough to see them progress anyway.

They have played some fantastic football– with Ousmane Dembele emerging as arguably the best player in the world – and a repeat should be enough to win them their first ever Champions League trophy.

Inter were arguably fortunate to get past Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the last two rounds, having to ride long spells of pressure from both, and if this game looks similar they are clearly second-favourites.

Hakimi to be in the thick of things again

Achraf Hakimi has been one of PSG’s most impressive performers throughout the competition, particularly going forward.

The right-back has had at least one shot in all of their last six European matches and doubling that tally in all but one of them.

He has posted an average of 1.6 shots per game across Ligue 1 and Europe this season, so backing him for one more to supplement the PSG to win bet makes sense.

For the long shot, I’m going to back the Moroccan to score.

He regularly finds himself in shooting positions and has netted in two of his last three Champions League outings, in second legs against Aston Villa and Arsenal.
