A new Premier League gameweek begins on Friday night, when Manchester City continue their pursuit of Champions League qualification at home to Wolves.

Adam Drury (@Adam_Drury1) picks out 6/4 and 16/1 bets for the clash at the Etihad.

Manchester City vs Wolves betting tips for Friday May 2, 2025

Manchester City to win

Wolves have put together a fine run to move up to 13th in the Premier League but I’m happy enough to take Man City to win this one.

Pep Guardiola’s side have restored some control to their season in recent weeks, winning six of their last seven matches and all of their last four.

They have scored at least twice in all of those last four matches, while their long-term home form of nine wins in 12 is good enough to have confidence in them here.

For the longer priced effort, we’ll go for Man City to win and both teams to score.

City’s last two home wins have finished 5-2 and 2-1 and they have only kept two clean sheets in 10 at the Etihad.

Wolves have lost while scoring at Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool and others this season.

When backing with Sky Bet, make sure to pick from the “win & both teams to score” market, rather than selecting the two separately, as you get a better price.

Nico O’Reilly shots

Nico O’Reilly’s emergence as City’s left-back has made a big difference to their fortunes in the last few weeks, providing pace and energy to a team that lacked it badly.

A feature of his run in the side has been his goal threat, with late dashes into the box from wide becoming something of a trademark.

He has had an effort on goal in four of his five league starts since coming into the side, only failing in a dreadful 0-0 draw at Manchester United, while also managing two shot against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup at Wembley last week.

Backing him for one for the 6/4 bet is an easy pick and then he needs one more for our long shot.

Mateo Kovacic shots

I’m also happy chucking a Kovacic shot into the mix, after a spate of efforts on goal in recent weeks.

The midfielder has had an effort on goal in his last four City matches, including in a 12-minute cameo off the bench at Everton when he scored, and is one of several players benefitting from a tactical switch that has seen them restore some control to games.

The Croatian is particularly eager to let fly at the Etihad, having two shots in those Palace and Villa wins.

Having had at least one attempt in four of his last five home league games, and doubling that tally in three of them, he is good for one or two more on Friday.
