Relegation-threatened Luton Town host an in-form Everton side on Friday evening as the hosts clamour for three vital points.

Luton sit one point adrift of safety ahead of the fixture, while three consecutive home victories for Everton have secured their Premier League status for next season. Kick-off is set for 8pm UK time at Kenilworth Road.

Recent Form

Luton Town

The hosts have endured a torrid recent months, registering just one win in their last 14 Premier League outings. With time running out, the Hatters are in serious danger of dropping back down to the Championship next season unless they are able to experience a sharp upturn in form.

Though their home form has hardly been convincing, Rob Edwards' men have still fared better in front of their own fans than on their travels. An average of 0.88 points at Kenilworth Road leaves only Burnley and Sheffield United with worse home records, and Luton have recorded just one home win in their last six.

Luton have been impressive going forward though, failing to score in only five league outings this term. Only one of these have occurred on home soil, and so finding the net has been far from their biggest issue. Buoyed by the attacking exploits of forwards Elijah Adebayo and Carlton Morris, they've averaged 1.47 goals scored in home fixtures so far.

Luton's main problems have been at the other end of the pitch. With an average of 1.88 conceded at home, they have managed just two home clean sheets all season, and have conceded at least two in nine of these matches. Even with their success going forward, such a leaky defence is always going to cause problems when fighting to stay in the league.

Everton

Sean Dyche's side enjoyed a stellar seven days last week as they recorded three consecutive home wins without conceding a goal, including a 2-0 victory over city rivals Liverpool. The run has left them eleven points ahead of the relegation zone, ensuring they will remain a Premier League team for next season.

Their home form has been a cornerstone of this success though, with Everton failing to replicate results on the road this term. They've failed to record a win in their last five away fixtures, and have only won five on their travels all season.

While the Toffees have never been the most expansive of sides, an average of just 0.94 scored on the road is a concern, particularly given their failure to find the net in seven away matches so far.

A habit of conceding goals is also out of character given the resoluteness Dyche's men have shown at home. Conceding 1.76 on average in away games has led to only four clean sheets in these matches.

Prediction

Luton certainly need three points if they are to remaining within touching distance of safety. Though their home record has dipped in 2024, they host an Everton side whose season ambitions have already been realised with three matches remaining.

The away side have little to play for between now and the end of the season, with a drop-off in performance likely, and so OddsNow back the hosts to secure three crucial points in their ongoing quest for survival.
