Title-chasing Chelsea travel to face Liverpool in dire need of victory if they are to regain ground on Women's Super League leaders Manchester City.

The two sides have already met twice in league and cup competition this season, with the Londoners coming out on top on both occasions. Kick-off is set for 7pm UK time at Prenton Park.

Recent Form

Liverpool

The hosts come into the game with three wins in their last five, including a 1-0 away win at relegated Bristol City at the weekend. Liverpool find themselves fifth in the table, but a win would move them level with fourth-placed Manchester United.

Matthew Beard's side have struggled for form on home turf so far, and have registered just one home league win in their last four outings. Scoring goals hasn't been a problem; the Reds have averaged 1.56 per home fixture so far, failing to score in just two of these games. Only four have seen them score two or more goals, though.

The problem has been at the other end of the pitch, where Liverpool have conceded an average of 1.22 goals on home soil, keeping just two clean sheets in the process.

Chelsea

Emma Hayes' side will still be reeling from their 2-0 home defeat to Barcelona on Saturday, which saw them bow out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage. The loss was the latest in a series of big matches in the last month, with Chelsea also eliminated in the FA Cup semi-finals after losing the WSL Cup final to Arsenal.

The Blues will therefore be determined to capture a fourth consecutive WSL title this season, and victory will move them within three points of leaders Manchester City with a game in hand.

Chelsea have been superb on the road this term, with only City bettering the 2.38 points they've averaged in away matches this term. They've also recorded four consecutive away victories heading into the match on Merseyside.

The Londoners have excelled at both ends of the pitch; an average of 2.88 scored has seen them find the net in every away outing so far. Chelsea have been equally as impressive at the back, conceding only 0.63 goals in away fixtures and registering clean sheets in six.

Five of these games have seen Chelsea score three or more goals.

Prediction

It is little surprise, therefore, to see the away side entering as overwhelming favourites (2/7). A loss could spell an end to their title ambitions, but Hayes' side have been rampant and will surely be spurred further by the disappointment at the weekend.

While little value can be found in backing Chelsea on the moneyline, OddsNow expect plenty of goals as the second-highest scoring team in the division look to gain ground on their title rivals.

OddsNow's Pick: Over 3.5+ goals scored (27/25 @ BetMGM)
