Ipswich Town are within one point of promotion to the Premier League as they host relegation-bound Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The two sides collide on the final day of the Championship season as the hosts near a return to the top-flight for the first time in 22 years. The reverse fixture ended in a 1-1 draw earlier in the season. Kick-off is set for 12:30pm UK time at Portman Road.

Recent Form

Ipswich Town

Kieran McKenna's side are within touching distance of the Premier League following their 2-1 away win at Coventry City on Tuesday. Ipswich sit three points ahead of third-placed Leeds United heading into the final day and know anything other than a loss will be enough to secure passage to the top division.

Their record at Portman Road this season certainly sits in their favour; Ipswich have been beaten just once on their own patch, winning 15 of their 22 home outings in the process. Their last two home fixtures have ended in draws to Watford (0-0) and Middlesbrough (1-1) respectively.

Reigning as the Championship's highest-scorers with 90 goals, Ipswich prepare to welcome the division's second-worst defence. Having netted three or more in 15 matches this season, including seven at home, the hosts will be confident of further boosting their scoring tally in front of their home fans.

An average of 1.45 goals have seen opponents enjoy some success at Portman Road, though. Ipswich have managed only five home clean sheets, and their home fixtures have averaged a total of 4.05 goals this term.

Huddersfield Town

The visitors' fate is all but confirmed as they languish in 23rd. Though they are only three points adrift of safety, their significantly inferior goal difference makes a late escape unlikely for the Terriers.

If anything, Huddersfield's already dismal defensive record is set to reach new lows. Winless in their last five away fixtures, André Breitenreiter's men have averaged 1.77 goals conceded on the road. They've conceded three or more in six away matches already, and have conceded nine goals in their last three away trips.

Such readings make it near impossible for their attacking players to make up the ground. Huddersfield have averaged a measly one goal per away fixture, and have failed to score in five.

Prediction

Neither side should play Championship football next season, but for different reasons. Ipswich will surely seal a long-awaited return to the Premier League and predictably enter as strong favourites, while the away side are destined for relegation.

No side has been more threatening on the front foot than the hosts this season, and only one team have conceded more goals than Huddersfield's 75.

Though Ipswich have struggled for clean sheets due to their expansive approach, OddsNow don't expect this toothless Huddersfield side to cause much trouble as they await their inevitable relegation to League One.
