Georgia host Luxembourg in a EURO 2024 Qualifying semi-final on Thursday as both sides look to move closer to a place in the main tournament this summer.
The winner of the match will face the winner of Greece vs Kazakhstan in one of three play-off finals. Kick-off for Georgia vs Luxembourg is set for 5pm UK time.
Willy Sagnol's side come into the play-offs, despite finishing fourth in Group A of EURO 2024 Qualifying, due to their success in the UEFA Nations League 2022/23 tournament.
Georgia finished top of Group C4 in the Nations League ahead of Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Gibraltar, winning five of their six matches in the whilst drawing the other. They scored sixteen goals in the process, whilst conceding just three.
Their defensive record wasn't quite as impressive during EURO Qualifying though, as they conceded 18 goals across their eight games, winning only two. The other six saw two draws and four losses for the Georgians, who could only manage 12 goals during that time. Spain eventually topped the group, with Scotland finishing as runners-up, ahead of third-placed Norway.
Star forward Khvicha Kvaratshkelia registered four goals in eight matches during EURO Qualifying.
Like Georgia, Luxembourg also enter the play-offs courtesy of their exploits in the Nations League. They finished second in Group C1, but because group-toppers Turkey had aready secured a place through EURO 2024 Qualifying, Luxembourg proceeded due to being the next best-ranked side.
They won three of their six matches while drawing two and losing the other. Luxembourg scored nine goals while conceding seven in that period.
Their EURO 2024 Qualifying campaign also showed promise, though they eventually finished third in Group J and so can only secure a spot in Germany via the play-offs. The Red Lions won five of their ten matches whilst drawing two and losing three. They scored 13 and conceded 19, though were up against a rampant Portugal side who won all ten of their qualifiers. Slovakia, who finished second, also won seven of their ten.
Georgia enter as favourites outright but, with Luxembourg also impressing in their own Nations League group and winning half of their EURO 2024 Qualifying matches, there's little value on backing either side on the moneyline.
Both sides' last six matches have seen an average of 4.38 goals scored, and with a potential spot in this year's European Championships on the line, OddsNow expect another high-scoring encounter between these two on Thursday.
