Mid-table Bristol City host relegated side Rotherham United on Saturday afternoon.

The home side come into the match in good form and harbour aspirations of a top half finish for the first time in four seasons. Kick-off is set for 3pm UK time at Ashton Gate.

Recent Form

Bristol City

Liam Manning's side are unbeaten in their last six matches overall and haven't suffered defeat in their last four games on home turf. City also boast the ninth-best record in the Championship, despite finding themselves 12th in the table heading into their final home match of the season.

Manning's men have hardly been free-scoring this season, but boast a respectable average of 1.32 goals scored in their home matches so far. Only 27% of these games have seen City net two or more goals though, and the Robins have failed to score in 32% of home fixtures this term. However, their last four matches have seen an improvement with eight goals scored in total, including a 5-0 home hammering of Blackburn Rovers earlier this month.

City have made up for their low scoring output with an excellent performance in defensive quarters, averaging an impressive 1.07 goals condeded throughout the season. This drops to just 0.95 in home games, 32% of which have seen them keep clean sheets. Only 23% have seen them concede two or more.

Rotherham United

Steve Evans was reappointed as Rotherham manager last week after former boss Leam Richardson was sacked following their relegation to League One. The Millers sit rock bottom in the Championship and a whopping 20 points below Huddersfield Town in 23rd.

Rotherham's overall form has been woeful, with an average of only 0.91 points per game this term, but their away record is eye-wateringly bad. Astonishingly, they've averaged just 0.18 points across their 22 away fixtures.

An abysmal 0.59 goals scored in these games has been compounded by 2.68 goals conceded. While failing to score in 59% of these matches, Rotherham have kept just one clean sheet on the road. Exactly 50% have seen them concede at least three goals.

Prediction

With all this in mind, it's little wonder to see Bristol City entering as firm favourites outright. Though they've averaged a relatively low goalscoring output this season, they face a Rotherham side who have one of the leakiest defences across the entire football pyramid. The away side surely cannot wait for the season to end, but OddsNow expect them to endure another difficult afternoon in the South-West before they can begin to dream about beaches and sandles in the summer.

OddsNow's Picks: Over 2.5+ home goals (15/8 @ PaddyPower); Bristol city to win 'to nil' (11/10 @ Starsports)
