The packed December schedule continues in the Premier League on Wednesday, as table-topping Liverpool look to maintain their lead at the division's summit.

Odds Now's Brad Walker has taken a close look at the evening's fixtures and picked out an intriguing 9/1 treble for you to dive into.

Selection #1 - Chelsea to beat Southampton

Enzo Maresca's Chelsea continued to exceed expectations with a dominant 3-0 victory at home to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon. 

The result means the Blues now sit level on points with an Arsenal side many were tipping to go all the way and win the title at the start of the season. 

Chelsea are now unbeaten in their last five league outings and travel to take on a Southampton side who are finding life hard in their return to the top-flight. 

Russell Martin's side remain bottom after 13 matches played, having picked up just five points so far. 

One of those came away to Brighton on Friday where, but for a dubious VAR call, they could have emerged with all three points and a much-needed boost in their quest for survival. 

However, while the Saints have no doubt shown improvements in recent weeks, they have still kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 in all competitions. 

Ultimately, this Chelsea side is going from strength-to-strength and, given the form of key players such as Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo, should have far too much for this Southampton side when all is said and done. 

Selection #2 - Liverpool to beat Newcastle

What more is there to say about Arne Slot's rampant Reds? 

Liverpool swept away both Real Madrid and Manchester City with little trouble last week to maintain their leads at the top of the Premier League and Champions League tables. 

Slot's men have tasted defeat just once so far in all competitions and head to St James' Park on the back of seven victories on the spin. 

And while the venue is renowned as one of the tougher places to visit in the Premier League, Newcastle's form has failed to convince up until this point. 

The Magpies looked to have turned a corner with victories over Arsenal and Nottingham Forest last month, yet have since taken just one point against relegation strugglers West Ham and Crystal Palace. 

A lack of consistency is severely hampering their aim to secure European football this season and, given they're taking on the most in-form side in Europe right now, it's near impossible to back anything other than an away victory in this one.

Selection #3 - Brentford to beat Aston Villa

To round off this piece, I'm going to back Thomas Frank's Brentford side to compound Aston Villa's misery by securing their first league win on the road this term.

Villa got off to an impressive start to the campaign but have since faltered, possibly feeling the impact of balancing domestic fixtures against Champions League commitments. 

Unai Emery's men are now without a win in eight matches in all competitions and continue to slip further down the table, currently finding themselves in 12th prior to kick-off. 

They were comfortably beaten at Stamford Bridge at the weekend and look drained by the influx on fixtures - a daunting sign ahead of a ram-packed Christmas schedule. 

And while Brentford are yet to record an away victory so far in the league, the Bees did manage to hold on for a 0-0 draw at Everton 10 days ago, despite playing over half of that match with 10 men.

Timing looks to be on the visitors' side given the misfortune of their West Midlands counterparts, hence why I'm going to back another away victory in this one.
