A win for Arne Slot's Liverpool this weekend will see the Reds top the Premier League heading into the final international break of 2024.

Odds Now's Brad Walker has got you covered from a punting perspective with a tasty 7/1 bet-builder ahead of kick-off on Merseyside.

Brad Walker's Liverpool vs Aston Villa selections

Selection #1 - Liverpool to win (4/9)

The hosts are absolutely flying and, courtesy of wins over Brighton and Bayer Leverkusen in recent weeks, find themselves sitting atop of both the Premier League and Champions League heading into Saturday.

Liverpool endured a torrid first half against the Seagulls at Anfield last weekend but predictably improved in the second half to eventually secure a 2-1 home victory

The result saw them capitalise on defeats for title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City on the same day, and another win could see them extend their lead further depending on outcomes elsewhere.

Their recent record against opponents Aston Villa also suggests another home victory could be on the cards for Slot's men.

Liverpool have won five of their last six home outings against the Villains, who are in the midst of a difficult spell.

Unai Emery's side are winless in their last four in all competitions and have suffered three defeats on the bounce.

Their most recent league outing was a 4-1 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, three days before a surprise 1-0 loss to Club Brugge in European competition.

All in all, given the form of the home side, another win for Slot and co looks likely here.

Selection #2 - Mohamed Salah over 1.5+ shots on target (7/5)

One man who has predictably been at the centre of the Reds' success is Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian has been in astonishing form so far this term, having already registered nine goals and nine assists in all competitions.

It was Salah who netted the winner against Brighton last weekend and he also claimed two assists in his side's 4-0 romp against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday evening

He also boasts a healthy record against this weekend's opposition.

Salah has 10 goal contributions in 11 outings against Villa and will surely enjoy heavy involvement once again this weekend.

He has registered at least one shot on target in each of his last five league appearances and has recorded two or more in three of those outings, including the recent win over Brighton.

And yet, backing him to do the same against Emery's men is available at a very generous odds-against price of 7/5 with multiple sportsbooks.

Add Villa's poor form to the mix - they've averaged 12.75 shots conceded in their last four matches - and that price looks even more appealling.

Selection #3 - Aston Villa over 4.5+ corners (13/10)

Liverpool have only conceded six goals so far - lower than any other side in the Premier League.

They also boast the lowest xGA of 8.1 - figures which are largely down to the imperial form of centre-backs Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

However, the hosts have made habit of giving corners away, particularly on their own patch.

In fact, opposition teams have registered five or more corners in each of Liverpool's last three league matches at Anfield.

Brighton mustered seven in their eventual loss last weekend, while Chelsea also had five in a 2-1 defeat in L4 earlier this month.

Even Bournemouth, who were handily beaten 3-0 in September, managed nine before the 90 minutes were up.

Meanwhile, Villa have averaged 5.3 so far in the league, yet still come in at a surprisingly wide 13/10 to have over 4.5 this weekend.

While I ultimately expect the visitors to come up short against the division leaders, backing them to have their fair share of set-piece action looks to be a very astute move indeed.
