Argentina vs Brazil: 5/2 & 13/5 tips for the Superclassic

Two of football's giants collide when Argentina play host to bitter rivals Brazil in the CONMEBOL World Cup 2026 qualifiers in the early hours of Wednesday.

Odds Now's Brad Walker (@brad_TWalker) has put up a 14/5 fancy ahead of kick-off in Buenos Aires.

Argentina vs Brazil analysis - Hosts' home strength hard to ignore

In reality, qualifying for the World Cup next summer is almost a formality for both of these nations.

Having won a combined eight World Cups between them, it's not a stretch to say each of these two will be heading to North America with strong ambitions of bringing the trophy back home with them upon the tournament's conclusion.

And while failure to qualify is borderline in conceivable for both, there's still plenty on the line whenever these two behemoths come head-to-head. Argentina currently boast more wins in this fixture (46) than their Brazilian rivals (42) and it's the hosts who come in favourites to win again at 23/20 (general) on the winner's line.

An explanation lies in the current CONMEBOL standings, which Argentina currently sit atop of on 28 points. They currently boast a seven-point advantage of third-placed Brazil, though Dorival Junior's side are now unbeaten in their last five, since a 1-0 loss to Paraguay in September.

Still, the Brazilians have still won only one of their last three games on the road and travel to an Argentina team which has not only won five of their six home matches, but has done so while conceding only once.

Best bets for Argentina vs Brazil on Wednesday, March 26, 2025

Selection #1 - Argentina to win to nil - 5/2

I've already mentioned Argentina's impressive defensive record at home. Lionel Scaloni's side have scored 14 goals across their six home outings which has also seen them concede just one.

They've also averaged a mightily impressive 0.8 xGA in the process and welcome a Brazil side who have failed to score in two of their five matches on the road.

Brazil haven't exactly been watertight at the back either.

They've kept just one clean sheet in away games so far, so getting the home win with both teams scoring at a best price of 5/2 is definitely worth taking.

Selection #2 - Julian Alvarez to score anytime - 13/5

The Atletico Madrid forward may only have two goals in qualifying so far, but heads back to his homeland in red hot form.

Alvarez has five goals in his last six La Liga appearances, taking his total season haul to 23 goals in all competitions.

His momentum has also carried over at international level following his assist for Thiago Almada's winner versus Uruguay on Friday evening.

Add in Brazil's paltry defensive record and backing Alvarez to go one better and score himself could prove a very astute pick indeed.
