Kevin Holland is set to take on UFC debutant Micheal ‘Venom’ Page in a welterweight bout in a star-studded UFC 299 card. Page finally makes his debut with the sport’s premier promotion and knows that a win against the established Holland could open the door for some intriguing matchups against the division’s top ten.

The card will be headlined by Sean O’Malley, who will make his first defence of his Bantamweight title in a rematch against Chito Vera.

UFC 299 will commence at 11pm UK time on Saturday broadcasting on TNT Sports in the UK, and will involve a number of fascinating bouts, including the co-main event, which will see Dustin Poirier against Benoit Saint-Denis in the lightweight division in a potential title-eliminator bout.

Exciting talent Jack-Della Maddalena takes on veteran Gilbert Burns in the welterweight division, and former champion Petr Yan looks to return to winning ways against Song Yadong in a bantamweight matchup.

Recent Form

Kevin Holland:

Holland has long been the man to step up to fight anyone at anytime in both the welterweight and middleweight divisions. Last time out, the American lost via split decision against Jack Della Maddalena back in September in a razor close bout.

The “Trailblazer” has been a mixed bag in the UFC as of late, going 2-3 in his last five fights. Losses to future title contender Khamzat Chimaev and former title contender Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson have helped to raise his profile. The fight against Thompson back in December 2022 was a fight of the year contender and saw Holland display his striking skills and ability to absorb punishment coming his way.

Holland has displayed both high-level striking and grappling in his MMA career, which may serve him well against Page, who is predominantly a striker. His last win in July 2023 saw him submit Micheal Chiesa via D’arce cocke in the first round. His fight before that in April 2023 saw him knock out Santiago Ponzinibbio in the third round, highlighting the number of tools in Holland's arsenal.

The American tends to try and beat his opponent at their own game, particularly in the Thompson fight which saw him refuse to grapple despite being the superior grappler of the two. Page is renowned for his elite striking and knockout power, suggesting Holland might opt to stand and trade himself as he looks to secure the win.

Michael Page:

‘Venom’ Page has long been touted to fight in the UFC, and the 36 year-old will be looking to make all of his experience count in this fight. The UK talent has an impressive record of 21-2-0 and knows that a win against Holland will propel him into fights against the top talent of the division.

Page previously fought under Bellator, with his only two losses coming in title fights under the promotion. Page’s striking will be his biggest weapon in this fight, and his unusual and relaxed movement, coupled with his devastating knockout power will be a concern for Holland.

Page posts an impressive finish rate, with 76% of his wins coming by finish (12 by KO and four by submission). His last outing in March of last saw him defeat Goiti Yamauchi in the first round via a leg kick TKO.

His last loss in MMA saw him lose the interim welterweight title fight in Bellator against Logan Storley, in a razor close split decision.

Betting Odds

Bet365 has Holland as favourite at 8/11, an implied probalitity of 57.9%. Page’s odds of winning are 6/5 on SkyBet, giving an implied probability of 45.5%.
