Tottenham Hotspur look to maintain faint hopes of Champions League qualification when they host relegation-threatened Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs have already recorded a 1-0 home win over the Clarets in the FA Cup third round back in January. Kick-off is set for 3pm UK time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Recent Form

Tottenham Hotspur

The hosts' miserable run continued with a 4-2 away loss at Liverpool on Sunday. The result made it four consecutive defeats for Tottenham in the Premier League, severely hampering their hopes of a top four finish. They now find themselves seven points behind Aston Villa in fourth, but do hold a game in hand over the Midlanders.

The bulk of Tottenham's success has came at home, where they've averaged 2.12 points so far. Only five sides boast better home records, and Ange Postecoglou's men have also won three of their last five on home turf. Spurs' last home outing did see them suffer a 3-2 loss to rivals Arsenal two weeks ago, though.

Conceding goals has been a big problem as of late. Not only have they shipped 13 in their last four outings, Spurs have also failed to keep a clean sheet since a 4-0 away win at Aston Villa on March 10th.

They have made habit of scoring at home though, averaging 2.12 goals scored in home fixtures so far, and Spurs have scored in every home outing so far. 13 of their 17 home matches have seen them score at least twice.

Burnley

Vincent Kompany's men have given themselves a fighting chance in recent weeks but are running out of time if they are to maintain their Premier League status next season. Only a win in London, combined with a Nottingham Forest loss to Chelsea, will be enough to see Burnley avoid relegation this weekend. They currently find themselves in 19th, five points adrift of Forest outside the relegation zone.

Their away record has hardly convinced, with only three sides averaging worse than the 0.78 points Burnley have managed across 18 away outings. Kompany's side have only lost one of their last five on the road, but three of these matches have ended in a draw, a result which will not suffice if they are to avoid the drop this weekend.

A solid return of 1.17 away goals scored has been undermined by an alarming 1.83 conceded in away fixtures. Though this is a slight improvement on the 2.28 conceded at home, Burnley have still managed just two clean sheets in total this season. They have also conceded three or more goals in 12 matches so far.

Prediction

Though Spurs have endured a torrid run of form as of late, they have came up against sides much higher in quality than the Burnley team they host on Saturday. OddsNow back Postecoglou's men to return to winning ways and close the gap on Aston Villa, condemning their opponents to a Championship return in the process.
