Rotherham United look for a second consecutive victory when they host fellow relegation-battlers Plymouth Argyle on Friday.
The home side picked up a rare win when they secured a 2-1 home victory over Millwall on Monday, while Plymouth head into the match of a 1-0 loss to Bristol City on the South Coast.
The Millwall win was only Rotherham's fourth of the season so far and they still languish at the bottom of the table - a whopping 18 points from safety. A loss this weekend would effectively relegate the home side given their goal difference compared to the teams around them. Meanwhile, a Plymouth win would take them to 44 points and could possibly lift them up a place to 20th, with the other teams set to play the following day.
Rotherham's home form (averaging 0.95 points per game) slightly betters that of Plymouth on the road (averaging 0.65 PPG), with the away side registering just one win on their travels in their last five.
Rotherham also head into the game unbeaten in their last two at home, and all four of their league victories have occurred on home turf. They've conceded an average of 1.25 goals per home game, compared to Plymouth's 1.55 in away games, though Plymouth come out top on clean sheets; Rotherham have kept opposition out in only 15% of home matches, compared to Plymouth's 25% in away fixtures.
Both have struggled in the goalscoring department though, with Roterham averaging just 0.95 goals per home game, which slightly betters Plymouth's 0.85 on the road. Both sides have failed to score in 30% of these fixtures.
Despite their abysmal defensive record, Rotherham are yet to concede more than two goals at home this season, while Plymouth have scored two goals in just 15% of their away games.
Rotherham's home fixtures combined with Plymouth's away matches have seen an average of just 2.2 goals per game.
Despite Rotherham's heroics on Monday, their overall form this season is hard to ignore. Sure, they're stronger on home turf, but they still have the worst home record in the Championship. Plymouth should still come out on top despite their struggles on the road this term, and the away side are the sensible pick on the moneyline.
Both have also been involved in low-scoring affairs so far, with a relatively low-scoring encounter expected on Friday.
