Peru host Nicaragua in an international friendly on Saturday as club football pauses for the March international break.

Kick-off is set for 1:30am UK time in Lima.

Recent Form

Peru

The home side head into the match having failed to win in their last seven matches. Six of those matches came in the Qualifying Stage of the 2026 World Cup. Peru have lost four of those games while drawing two, including a 1-1 home draw with Venezuela in their most recent outing back in November.

During qualifying, Peru have averaged an expected goals (xG) tally of only 0.57 yet have recorded an average of just 0.17 goals scored per match. They are slightly outperforming their defensive projections, however. Despite an expected goals against (xGA) tally of 1.48 per match, Peru have conceded 1.33 so far.

They have managed clean sheets in only 17% of matches though, whilst failing to score in 83%. Peru's six qualifying matches have averaged a total of 1.5 goals per game.

Nicaragua

Nicaragua's last six matches have all formed part of the CONCACAF Nations League. They finished top of Group B:B (W5, D1) ahead of the Dominican Republic, Montserrat and Barbados.

Nicaragua scored 17 goals while conceding just one across their six group matches. Nine of those goals scored came in away matches.

Nicaragua averaged an xG of 2.2 whilst scoring an average of 2.83 goals, failing to score in just 17% of their group games. They also impressed in defensive columns; out-performing their xGA (0.97) with just 0.17 goals conceded in their six matches. 83% of their matches ended in clean sheets.

It should however be noted that the level of opposition they have faced is much lower than that Peru regularly come up against in South America.

Prediction

There's little value on the homeside to win outright, with Peru entering the match as overwhelming favourites. In their last six matches, both sides have averaged 2.35 total goals per game, suggesting a relatively low-scoring encounter on Saturday morning.
