Manchester United look to repeat their FA Cup quarter-final heroics when they host Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have failed to build upon their victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup last month, and were held to a 1-1 draw last week against Brentford before suffering a last-gasp 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on Thursday. Liverpool, meanwhile, returned to the top of the Premier League with a 3-1 home victory over Sheffield United midweek. Kick-off is set for 3:30pm UK time.

Recent Form

Manchester United

Erik Ten Hag's side come into this game on the back of poor form, having won only one of their last six Premier League games.

Manchester United have conceded a staggering 134 shots over their last five league matches, with 28 coming against Chelsea in their most recent outing. Their expected goals against (xGA) tally sits at a worrying 1.68 goals per game this season, with United keeping just two clean sheets in their last 13 home matches.

They also rank twelfth in the division for goals scored (43), and have averaged only 1.43 goals per game. While United have scored two or more in half of their home fixtures this season, they have also shipped at least two in the same amount of those games.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp's men head to Old Trafford with just one loss in their last twelve games. That sole defeat came at Sunday's venue, when they succumbed to a 4-3 defeat to United in the FA Cup last month. Their victory over Sheffield United saw them reclaim top spot in the league as they seek the perfect ending to Jurgen Klopp's reign on Merseyside.

Liverpool have scored the second-most goals in the division so far, scoring 70 goals across their 30 matches, and registering an expected goal (xG) tally of 2.15 in the process. They have still managed to exceed this figure though, bagging an average of 2.33 goals per game so far.

Liverpool have also excelled on the road, losing just two away fixtures in the league so far, and have conceded an average of just one goal per game on the road. This betters their xGA tally of 1.33.

Prediction

United tend to score at Old Trafford, finding the net at least once in 79% of their league games there, but their alarming defensive record makes it difficult to back them repeating their victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup. The away side have been superb on the road this season, and will no doubt be seeking for revenge for the defeat they suffered at the same venue last month.

While we back the home side to find the net, OddsNow ultimately expect Liverpool's firepower to prove too much as they look to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League.
