Relegation-bound Leicester return to home soil when they host a buoyant Newcastle side on Monday evening.

Leicester vs Newcastle analysis - Foxes hunting relegation miracle

Dismal is the only word which describes Leicester's performances this season. A 2-1 win at Tottenham in January remains their sole victory in their last 15 Premier League outings, with each of the other 14 all ending in defeat.

With Southampton's relegation confirmed on Sunday afternoon, it's hard to see the likes of Leicester and Ipswich avoiding similar fate. Ruud van Nistelrooy's side are now 15 points adrift of safety ahead of kick-off at the King Power on Monday and have failed to win any of their last eight on home turf.

Meanwhile, visiting Newcastle certainly have their tails up ahead of their trip to the East Midlands. The Magpies know a victory will see them move into fifth, a position which will very likely secure a spot in the Champions League next season.

Their 4-0 hammering of the Foxes back in December also leaves plenty of reason for optimism for the travelling Geordie faithful.

Over 2.5+ Newcastle goals - 19/10

Given everything outlined above, the fact Newcastle come in overwhelming odds-on favourites at 1/2 isn't the biggest surprise.

Add in the fact Eddie Howe's side come into the game on the back of three straight wins and have come out on top in five of their last seven on the road, and it's even harder to envisage Leicester enjoying any form of success here.

There may be some value in backing Newcastle to win well, though. The Geordies have already scored over 2.5 goals in eight league matches this season and head to the King Power with memories from their 4-0 battering of the Foxes in the reverse fixture still in their mind.

Newcastle registered a whopping 3.78 xG that day and managed 27 shots in total, 11 of which were on target. Plus, Leicester have conceded at least three goals in each of their last two home matches, making it 10 occasions in total this term.

All in all, when considering the respective form of these two sides, backing Newcastle to score over 2.5 goals in the Midlands at a juicy 19/10 is hard to turn down.
