Mid-table Getafe host Champions League-chasing Athletic Bilbao at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Friday evening.

The home side are targeting a first top-half finish in four seasons, while the visitors look to close the gap on fourth-placed Atletico Madrid. Kick-off is set for 8pm UK time.

Recent Form

Getafe

Pepe Bordalás' side have built on their 15th-placed finish in La Liga last term and currently sit tenth heading into Friday's encounter. Getafe returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at Almeria last time out after failing to record a win in their three outings prior.

Their home form has been a staple of their success, with only seven sides boasting better home records this season. Getafe have also lost just once in their last five at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

Bordalás' men have been solid going forward, averaging 1.24 goals scored in La Liga, though this drops slightly to 1.19 in home fixtures. They've only failed to score in five of their 17 matches at home.

It's at the back where 'Azulones' have really excelled, though; only three sides have conceded less than the 15 they've shipped at home, averaging 0.94 in front of their home fans. They've registered seven clean sheets at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez so far.

Athletic Bilbao

The visitors' Champions League hopes were dented by a 3-1 away defeat at Atletico Madrid at the weekend. Bilbao now trail Atletico by six points, and must surely win all of their remaining fixtures if they are to have any chance of breaking into the top four.

Ernesto Valverde's side's record on the road hasn't exactly convinced, though. With 1.25 points averaged in away fixtures, Bilbao have recorded three losses in their last five on their travels. Despite averaging 2.24 goals at home, Bilbao have managed only 0.94 in away games. They've already failed to score in seven of their away outings so far, and only five have seen them score two or more goals.

Their performance at the back has been relatively consistent both home and away. 1.06 conceded in away games has led to seven clean sheets, but their lack of attacking output could prove pivotal if they are to finish outside of the top four at the end of the season.

Prediction

Valverde's men have certainly struggled on their travels in comparison with their home form, but with Getafe having little to play for between now and the season's end, OddsNow back Bilbao to secure a victory on Friday evening.
