France look to bounce back to winning ways as they welcome Chile to Marseille on Tuesday.

The international friendly takes place at Stade Orange Vélodrome in preparation for both side’s respective continental tournaments this summer. Kick off is set for 8pm UK time.

Recent Form

France

Didier Deschamps' side head into this encounter on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Germany on Saturday, ending their run of five home wins on the bounce.

France sit second in the FIFA World Rankings and had been performing very well on home turf, averaging 2.40 points a game (W4, L1) prior to the Germany loss. They also had little difficulty in finding the back of the net, especially at home, averaging 4.2 goals per game and exceeding their expected goals (xG) tally of 2.82. A 14-0 win against Gibraltar back in November also helped put them second in the European goals table.

The French had performed just as well defensively, particularly on home soil where they conceded on average 0.6 goals per game, just below their expected goals against (xGA) of 0.84.

Deschamps' men will be looking to right the Germany result with a return to winning ways on Tuesday.

Chile

The away side head to Marseille on the back of a 3-0 victory over Albania on Friday, the first match under new manager Ricardo Gareca since his appointment back in January. The win was also their first in four games.

Chile’s home performances have been much more impressive compared to their away form. Whilst automatically qualifying for this summer’s Copa América as one of the CONMEBOL teams, they have averaged 2.20 points over their last five games at home (W3, D2) and just 0.80 points per game on the road (W1, D1, L3).

Gareca’s side have struggled to find the back of the net away from home, though. Over their previous ten, they have an overall xG of 1.19 and have converted only 0.8 shots per game. They’ve fared much better at home, with an xG of 2.06 and converting on average 2 each game.

They also concede more away from home, conceding an average of 1.4 goals which slightly exceeds their xGA of 1.19.

Prediction

Based on France’s great home form on both ends of the field, alongside Chile’s poor form and difficulties with scoring away from home, it’s difficult to see anything other than a home victory here. France come in at a 2/5 best on the moneyline, but better value can be found on the total goals line.

Prior to the Germany match, France were seemingly scoring at will, particularly in front of their home fans. Coupled with Chile's struggles on their travels, plenty of scoring action can be anticipated ahead of the match in Marseille.

OddsNow's Picks: France to lead at half-time and full-time (Evens @ Sky Bet); Over 2.5 goals scored (8/11 @ Sky Bet)
