Another day, another Champions League accumulator on offer!

Aston Villa prepare to welcome one of Europe's big-hitters to Villa Park, while Atletico Madrid and Atalanta travel for some tricky-looking away fixtures in Europe's premier club competition.

Get ready to dive into Brad Walker's 6/1 accumulator for Wednesday's fixtures!

Brad Walker's best Champions League bets for Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024

Atalanta to beat Shakhtar Donetsk (7/10) - 1 pt

Bayern Munich to beat Aston Villa (4/5) - 2 pts

Atletico Madrid to beat Benfica (16/11) - 1 pt

Atalanta, Bayern Munich & Atletico Madrid treble (6.29/1) - 0.5 pts

Selection #1 - Atalanta to beat Shakhtar Donetsk (7/10)

Marino Pusic's side have made a solid start to their Ukrainian Premier League campaign, having won four, drawn one and lost two so far.

A 0-0 draw at Bologna also saw Shakhtar pickup their third clean sheet in their last four in the Champions League.

In fact, they have won their last two home fixtures in the competition - a run which includes a 1-0 home win over Barcelona in November 2023.

Shakhtar were winless in their last seven home matches prior, though. They've also racked up only three wins in their last 10 in Europe's premier club competition home and away.

Meanwhile, visiting side Atalanta have struggled to get going so far in Serie A.

Gian Piero Gasperini's side have only won two of their first six in the Italian top-flight, but do have a proven track record of excelling in European competition.

Atalanta were crowned Europa League champions last season in a competition where they were unbeaten on the road.

Their 3-0 dismantling of a heavily-fancied Liverpool side at Anfield particularly caught the eye, before another impressive showing against a then unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen side in Dublin's final.

Gasperini's men haven't hit those heights on the domestic front yet, but should still have too much for their Ukrainian hosts here.

The bulk of Shakhtar's success so far has been against lower quality opposition in the UPL and they are yet to prove their capabilities of battling against the better sides in Europe.

Selection #2 - Bayern Munich to beat Aston Villa (4/5)

1982 winners Aston Villa are back among the big-time after a superb showing in the Premier League last season.

Unai Emery's men got off to a winning start in this competition with a 3-0 rout against Young Boys in Switzerland two weeks ago and have been equally as impressive in their domestic form.

Villa have tasted defeat just once in the league so far - a 2-0 loss at home to Arsenal in a game where they could easily have taken a point had they been more clinical in front of goal.

Their 2-2 draw away at Ipswich on Sunday is the only other time they've dropped points this season.

Conceding goals has been a problem, though. Villa are yet to keep a single clean sheet in the league so far this term. In fact, their win against Young Boys is the only time they've shutout an opponent in any competition this campaign.

Given the attacking prowess displayed by Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich so far, their defensive performance makes for quite an ominous reading.

Bayern are unbeaten in the German Bundesliga after five games.

A 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday was the first time they'd fail to win in the league since Kompany took over the reins in the summer.

Not only have the Bavarians scored in all of their league encounters, they've done so while averaging 3.4 goals netted per game.

Forwards Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise already have 18 between them so far and will be confident of adding to their tally again given the leaky defence they are facing.

And while Kane limped off in the Leverkusen game, the Englishman told media he is confident he will feature at a ground where he has already scored five goals so far in his career.

Ultimately, while Villa have been superb since Emery took charge, it's hard to see them matching the attacking output of their German counterparts.

I'm going for a Bayern win here at a very generous price of 4/5 across the board.

Selection #3 - Atletico Madrid to beat Benfica (16/11)

Hosts Benfica have won their last four matches in all competitions - a run which includes a 2-1 away win against Red Star Belgrade.

As Águias have scored 14 goals during that time, albeit against lower quality opposition in the Primeira Liga.

Yet, Benfica's 3-0 away win at Boavista last month is the only time Bruno Lage's side have registered a clean sheet in any of their last five.

They prepare to welcome an Atletico Madrid side who remain unbeaten in La Liga after eight games played.

All four of their away fixtures have seen Atletico score at least once, despite summer's forward acquisitions Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth still taking time to find their feet at the Metropolitano.

The pair have only netted three league goals between them so far, but Atleti still have the trusty Antoine Griezmann to rely on in front of goal.

The Frenchman was on the scoresheet in his side's 2-1 home victory over RB Leipzig on matchday one of this competition as the Spaniards got off to a perfect start

Combined with their trusty defensive record, which is much improved on their showings from last season, I expect the visitors to pickup their second win in as many Champions League games in this one.
