Former Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich host Europe-chasing Eintracht Frankfurt in their penultimate home fixture of the season on Saturday.

The hosts have already lost out on the league title to champions Bayer Leverkusen but will be buoyed by their recent passage to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. Kick-off is set for 2:30pm UK time at the Allianz Arena.

Recent Form

Bayern Munich

After a disappointing campaign which has seen them surrender the Bundesliga title for the first time in eleven years, Bayern remain hopeful of securing a fifth Champions League at Wembley next month. They must first overcome tournament favourites Real Madrid next week and will look to continue their winning momentum in Munich this weekend.

Thomas Tuchel's side are unbeaten in their last four in all competitions, and have also won their last two league outings, scoring seven goals and conceding one in the process.

Their overall form at home has been superb, winning 12 of their 15 Bundesliga matches at the Allianz Arena so far. Bayern have won five of their last six on home turf, with the only blemish being a 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund at the end of March.

Tuchel's men also stand as the league's highest-scorers with 87 goals scored at an average of 2.9 per game. This increases to 3.27 at home, where they've scored three or more in 60% of their league games.

Bayern have also excelled in defensive quarters in home games; just 0.73 goals conceded has seen them register clean sheets in 47% of fixtures at the Allianz Arena. This compares to their average of 1.73 shipped in away matches.

Eintracht Frankfurt

The away side remain in sixth place heading into the match - a positioning which will land them a place in the Europa Conference League should they remain on-track between now and the end of the season. Recent inconsistency has threatened to undo their progress this season though, with Frankfurt winning, drawing and losing two of their last six matches.

Their recent 3-1 home victory over Augsburg saw them return to winning ways after four matches, but their away form remains a concern as they prepare to face a ruthless Bayern side in Munich.

Three of Frankfurt's last five away outings have ended in defeat, and their 1.13 points averaged on the road leaves them with only the eighth-best away record in the Bundesliga.

Their defensive statistics make for ominous reading given Bayern's highscoring tendencies on home soil; a worrying 1.73 goals conceded with leave the Bayern frontline licking their lips, with Frankfurt managing a clean sheet in only 13% of away games this season.

Their attacking output has also been far from convincing on the road, with only 1.33 goals scored on average on their travels.

Prediction

Bayern predictably enter as firm favourites (2/5) given their strong record at home. Combining this with Frankfurt's worrying trend of conceding in away fixtures, it's hard to see Bayern not enjoying more success going forward as they look for a strong finish to an otherwise disappointing Bundesliga campaign.
