Sandy Ryan defends her WBO welterweight title for the second time when she faces Terri Harper this Saturday in the Sheffield Arena.

The winner of this match-up is likely to set up a unification showdown against the winner of Jessica McCaskill vs Lauren Price, which takes place in May. Harper will be looking to pick up her third world title in as many divisions after capturing the WBC super-featherweight and WBA super-welterweight championships.

Tale of the Tape

Derby’s Ryan comes into the contest on the back of a controversial draw against WBA champion McCaskill, with many making her a clear winner.

Harper is also coming off a controversial draw against boxing veteran Cecilia Breakhus, with promoter Eddie Hearn left outraged at her not getting her hand raised. The WBA super-welterweight champion now moves down in weight to a much more natural division, after jumping up from 130lbs to 154lbs in recent years.

Both fighters impressed fans with knockout victories in their early fights, but are yet to finish a contest in the scheduled distance for over three years.

Prediction

Both women should arguably be coming into this contest on the back of stand out victories, but Ryan’s was more impressive. Dominating one of the best female fighters in the last decade in only her eighth contest has made the champion a big favourite with the bookies.

Harper meanwhile has never really looked back to her best since Alycia Baumgardner inflicted a devastating finish on her back in 2021.

The bookies are only giving out 2/5 (Boyle Sports) on a Ryan victory, but with so little stoppages from the champion of late, a victory over the distance for the champion makes most sense.

OddsNow's Pick: Sandy Ryan to win via decision/technical decision (8/11 @ BoyleSports)
